Eagle-Required Merit Badges
Scouts need to accumulate at least 21 merit badges before earning the Eagle Scout rank. Of those 21 badges, 14 must come from this list of Eagle-required merit badges, and the rest can be any badges not used for these 14. Having these required merit badges from a range of disciplines ensures that an Eagle Scout has experienced doing badges that support the BSA mission and vision. These present concepts around citizenship, family, personal responsibility, preparedness, physical fitness, and outdoor skills.
You must earn all of the following merit badges:
First Aid
Citizenship in the Community
Citizenship in the Nation
Citizenship in Society
Citizenship in the World
Communication
Cooking
Personal Fitness
Personal Management
Camping
Family Life
Emergency Preparedness OR Lifesaving
Environmental Science OR Sustainability
Swimming OR Hiking OR Cycling
Merit Badge Process in Troop 1148
Find a merit badge counselor. You can ask an adult leader for assistance in finding contact information.
Download the merit badge workbook for that specific merit badge. Merit badge workbooks are helpful and can help you understand and organize things you need to do to complete the merit badge. A simple Google search of "[merit badge name] workbook" is sufficient.
Begin working on the requirements, and keep your merit badge counselor updated with your process.
Continue communicating with your counselor until all the requirements are finished, and make sure your merit badge counselor signs your blue card.
Your blue card should have all the required signatures from the scoutmaster and merit badge counselor before turning it into the scoutmaster.
